At the beginning of this year, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the Ministry of Finance announced the list of national high-skilled talent training bases for 2024, and Chery Holding Group Co., Ltd. was successfully selected. This is also the first high-skilled talent training base in our province that has been approved after being named after an enterprise. The "confidence" that stands out is that our city has insisted on regarding talent training as the foundation of development for many years, actively supporting enterprises to vigorously implement the talent-strengthening enterprise strategy, continuously improve the training system, upgrade training facilities, and innovate training methods, so as to achieve the accumulation of starting from a "small grass house" and becoming a Fortune 500 company.
Industrial revitalization and talent prosperity always complement each other. In the transformation from manufacturing to "smart manufacturing", a large number of demands for compound technical talents who understand the profession, have skills, and dare to innovate are released.
Wuhu has already caught this "trend". At the training base of Wuhu Chery Advanced Technical School, a group of young people in work clothes are discussing enthusiastically in front of the chassis of new energy vehicles. What the school is most proud of is that the school's graduates are "booked" before they leave the school. This teaching mode of "classrooms connected to workshops and homework facing products" has become a distinctive feature of Wuhu's technical education.
In recent years, Wuhu has thoroughly implemented the plan for high-quality development of technical education, adhered to the orientation of high-quality employment and the service of local industrial development, improved the school-running system and mechanism, and continuously deepened the integration of production and education, school-enterprise cooperation, and cultivated practical skilled talents with "employment upon enrollment and employment upon graduation", effectively promoted the connection of the "three industries" of industry, profession and employment, and built a modern technical education system that is compatible with local economic and social development.
Wuhu Chery Senior Technical School and Wuhu Jiankang Senior Technical School were successfully upgraded to senior technical schools in 2024, and Wuhu Industry and Trade Technical School was newly approved in April this year. There are 4 technical schools in the city (1 technician college, 2 senior technical schools, and 1 technical school), 36 majors are opened around the industry, with a full-time student scale of about 9,000, 1 high-level technician college and 2 high-level professional groups, and more than 20,000 vocational skills trainings are carried out annually, continuously supplying a steady stream of skilled talents for local industrial development.
Competition empowerment: from the arena to the workplace
The 4th National New Energy Vehicle Skills Competition was held in Wuhu last year. When the news came that the Wuhu team won 4 first prizes and achieved a "full house", the whole city cheered for them. Behind this skill "feast" is the competition growth system that Wuhu has built over the years.
Wuhu issued the "Wuhu City Vocational Skills Competition Management Measures", and held more than 20 municipal competitions each year, covering new energy vehicles, industrial robots, Internet marketing and other industries. Participants are not restricted by qualifications, length of service, etc., and their professional skills are directly promoted based on their competition results. The winners of provincial and above vocational skills competitions are given supporting incentives according to regulations. The city currently has one China training base for the World Skills Competition and 20 Anhui Province training bases for the China Skills Competition. In the past three years, 1,665 people have been promoted to skill levels through skill competitions, and a total of 1.69 million yuan in reward funds have been issued to 144 people.
In the second national vocational skills competition, Wuhu won 1 gold and 1 silver; at the 47th World Skills Competition, Tang Fan, a contestant from the state-owned Wuhu Machinery Factory, won the gold medal in the aircraft maintenance project, filling the gap in the gold medal in this project for the Chinese delegation.
Tang Fan also has the most say in the help the competition brings to his career. From the municipal selection to the world championship, this farmer's son completed an amazing transformation in 5 years. Today, the young man has not only been named Anhui Craftsman of the Year 2025 and won the Provincial May 1st Labor Medal, but also actively exerted his strength in cultivating skilled talents relying on the studio set up in the factory.

The industry is thriving and life is thriving. It not only needs great craftsmen, but also needs skilled craftsmen active in all walks of life and at all levels.
In line with the relevant national, provincial and municipal policies, Wuhu has successively issued documents such as the Wuhu Vocational Skills Improvement Action Plan, the Wuhu Skills Master Studio Recognition Implementation Rules, and the "New Anhui Cuisine·Famous Anhui Chef" Warm People's Hearts Action Plan, etc., to fully implement the lifelong vocational skills training system, and vigorously carry out employment skills training, pre-job skills training for newly hired employees in enterprises, and job skills improvement training. The city's private vocational schools were rated, and 9 Class A schools were rated, which further promoted the standardized and healthy development of private vocational training.
According to statistics, in the past three years, the city has carried out subsidized skills training for a total of 196,000 people, including 101,000 migrant workers; 84,000 new skilled talents, including more than 40,000 high-skilled talents; in the past three national and provincial high-skilled talent selection and commendation projects, 2 national technical experts, 9 Jianghuai outstanding craftsmen, 18 Anhui Provincial Skill Awards, 3 State Council government special allowances, 8 provincial government special allowances, and 8 Anhui Province Hui cuisine chefs.
In addition to Chery Holding Group Co., Ltd. being successfully selected into the 2024 national high-skilled talent training base filing list, Wuhu Vocational and Technical College was also named Anhui Province's high-skilled talent training and competition base. The city already has 7 high-skilled talent training bases (including 2 national and 5 provincial), and has built 67 skill master studios at the municipal level and above (including 4 national and 27 provincial). Promote the construction of the Wanjiang Human Resources Public Vocational Training Base with high standards, improve the six-in-one service functions of "vocational training, skill appraisal, skill competition, public training, innovation and entrepreneurship, and technical education", and serve more than 80,000 people in total. Relying on Huawei Cloud's leading advantages in the field of digital technology, focusing on 8 directions such as artificial intelligence applications, cloud computing, big data, and intelligent connected vehicles, jointly build the Wuhu Digital Talent Center, build a "1+3+8" talent training system, and plan to train about 5,000 high-skilled digital talents in 3 years.
