Wuhu Xuancheng Airport Opens New Intermodal Transport Channel
Recently, cargo flight I98856 departing from Dhaka, Bangladesh, arrived at Wuhu Xuancheng Airport, marking the official launch of two international intermodal transport modes: air-to-air transfer and air-land-sea combined transport. This 2,700 kg cargo was diverted and transferred via two routes: part of the cargo was seamlessly transported via land transport ("cabin") to Shanghai Waigaoqiao Port, where it was transferred to a Matsun Express ship directly to Los Angeles, USA; the other part was transferred via a domestic all-cargo aircraft from Wuhu Xuancheng Airport to Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport via a "one-stop" model, effectively connecting international and domestic air cargo.
Company-provided data shows that the new model significantly improves logistics efficiency: air-land-sea combined transport saves approximately 12 days compared to traditional ocean freight, while air-to-air transfer significantly reduces logistics costs for direct flights from Dhaka to Europe and the United States. This achievement highlights Wuhu Xuancheng Airport's advantages as a regional cargo hub, particularly by establishing a fast channel between Southeast Asia's textile industry and the European and American consumer markets, and by facilitating precise stock replenishment for cross-border e-commerce businesses during peak seasons like Black Friday and Christmas.
To ensure smooth transit services, Wuhu Xuancheng Airport, in collaboration with Wuhu Customs, Zhengzhou Airport, and Zhongzhou Airlines, is continuously improving international cargo transit processes, optimizing ground support and customs procedures, and providing efficient solutions tailored to import and export businesses. Going forward, the airport will continue to expand its bonded logistics, digital customs clearance system, and route network, strengthening its global supply chain node capabilities and accelerating the development of the Wuhu International Air Cargo Hub to serve the needs of regional industrial upgrading and cross-border e-commerce development.
